January 25, 2013 (Omaha, Neb.) – On any given day, you’ll find over 2,000 open case files on children at Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS). And that’s not counting the hundreds of children in the three Centers for Healthy Families!

Some of these children are in LFS’s RSafe® program, undergoing therapy after being sexually abused. Others are in foster care, desperately hoping for a permanent loving home. Still others are in early intervention and child abuse prevention programs that put young families on a positive path– through parenting classes and early childhood behavioral health therapies. One mother told us, “I would have lost my children to the state [foster care] if not for this program.”

The upcoming “Fandango” fundraiser will help insure that these programs continue to change and save the lives of Omaha’s most vulnerable children. Parker and Alanna Schenken are honorary chairs of the Friday, February 22, 2013 event. This year’s theme, “Fandango: All-Stars” encourages attendees to wear their favorite sports-themed or casual attire. Among this year’s live auction items: A week at a three bedroom beach house on beautiful Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Fandango is organized by members of the Forever Families Guild. The event chairpersons this year are Terri and Alan Wasmoen. Julie Cornell of KETV NewsWatch 7 is the emcee.
