Applicant Eligibility Requirements and Pre-Adopt Meeting Request Form
Both married and single adults (heneafter referred to as "family") may apply to the Agency Adoption Program.
All applicants shall meet all the following eligibility requirements:
The prospective adoptive family must be active members of
the same Christian church in the community of family residence.
Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska defines Christian
as: "one who believes in the Triune God and confesses
that Christ is Lord."
Must be residents of Nebraska or Pottawattamie Co., Iowa unless a military family.
Couples must be married at least 2 years at the time of formal application.
Must have family major medical insurance.
Prospective adoptive parents shall be 21 years of age and no more than 44 years
of age at the time of application.
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must complete the formal application procedure including
the release of information and references from non-relatives,
employers, pastor and medical doctors. Further medical information,
psychological assessment, counseling or other action may be
required of prospective adoptive parents prior to the approval
of a homestudy.
Must complete and clear the adult and child registry checks.
