Anger Management
Locations | Experts | How You Can Help This Program
LFS' Anger Management Programs provide structured therapy groups designed to help adults and adolescents:
- Identify underlying feelings associated with anger
- Understand the impact of anger on themselves and others
- Explore unresolved grief & loss issues
- Develop skills (including communication skills, stress management, and relaxation techniques) for healthy expression, use and management of emotions
These groups help people who are:
- Dealing with relationship issues, including emotional and verbal abuse
- Inappropriately expressing anger in the workplace, school, social settings or the community
- Experiencing difficulties in family or social relationships
- Currently or were recently in therapy and could benefit from learning healthy communication and problem-solving skills.
- In the group sessions, handouts, group exercises and role playing strategies are used to develop healthy expressions of anger, grief, loss and disappointment. Group members apply their own situations to the learning materials/experiences and offer appropriate confrontation and support to other members.
Therapy groups are conducted in 12 week cycles. By the end of the cycle, each member develops a personalized self-control plan. Members may continue beyond one cycle, depending on individual goals. In addition to the group sessions, individual counseling may be available.
An initial intake/screening session is required, and additional individual sessions may be necessary and will be determined by the therapist and client.
