Josiah Place
Josiah Place provides a housing solution that is affordable, pleasant, safe and accessible to other supportive services that may be required for achievement of independence and economic empowerment. A multi-purpose community meeting room includes a residential style kitchen and can be used for parties, exercise classes, holiday functions and volunteer training.
Tenants of the complex have differing needs for support services, so upon the initial screening, LFS staff conduct assessments to determine each resident’s need for additional services to support independent living.
All Josiah Place residents must:
- Have a chronic mental illness diagnosis
- Have an annual income that does not exceed program income limits
- Not have any other residences besides their unit at Josiah Place
- Produce a valid Social Security Number
- Meet other background requirements imposed by HUD
The name Josiah, what does it mean?
Josiah Place is named after King Josiah, who, in the Bible, overcame many personal and social obstacles to lead a long and successful reign, motivating his people to come together and be strengthened as a faithful community of God.
Like King Josiah’s people, the residents of Josiah Place experience the hope and fulfillment of reaching their potential as individuals, supported within a caring and guiding community of peers, professionals, volunteers and the broader Church.
The Facilities
Josiah Place consists of a 10-unit single bedroom apartment complex that provides:
- Affordable housing within walking distance to many necessary services
- Occasional community support services
- A commons area for residents to host guest, relax and socialize
