Are You Addicted to Alcohol?

It is not unusual for alcoholics to deny their alcoholism and blame others for their need to drink. Unfortunately, most recovering alcoholics only realized they had a problem after their habit interfered with their jobs, their families, their health, and sometimes even their lives.

Tough love and honesty from family, friends, and co-workers is essential to help alcoholics recover.

Does this sound like you or a loved one?

  • Your family complains of your excess drinking
  • Your alcohol tolerance level has increased
  • You suffer occasional or partial memory lapses
  • You use alcohol to cope with problems or to relax
  • You sneak drinks or drink alone
  • You are preoccupied with alcohol
  • You rationalize your loss of control over alcohol
  • You have been convicted of one or more DWIs

If two or more of these statements sounds like you or a loved one, consider talking with a counselor at one of Lutheran Family Services' office locations.
