Pregnancy Counseling -
Fundamental Program Values

Locations | Experts | How You Can Help This Program

The following are fundamental values in Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska's Pregnancy Counseling and Adoption programs:

  • Children are the primary clients in pregnancy counseling and adoption services. Their best interests are fundamental in all decision-making.

  • Pregnancy counseling services assist birth parents in decision making and respect and support the decision they choose.

  • Openness in adoption best serves the ongoing needs of children, birth parents and adoptive parents. The wishes and choices of birth parents are respected in adoption planning.

  • Services for adoptive families center on identifying appropriate homes for children being relinquished for adoption.

  • Education is critical in preparing birth and adoptive families for adoption.

  • Families pursuing adoption independently are supported through the provision of educational seminars and homestudy services.

When the needs or desires of one member of the triad conflict with those of another in adoption planning, the Agency worker will be mindful of the child as our primary client.
