"Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another."
-Erma Bombeck

Everyone's motivation to volunteer is different. Some volunteers simply enjoy working with others in a fun atmosphere, while other volunteers look forward to using their skills or experiences in new jobs. Regardless of your motivation, programs with Lutheran Family Services need your skills and talents to be successful. If you can help, please fill out the form below and tell us about your interests.

Want to Volunteer?

Benefits of Becoming a Volunteer: As a volunteer you provide Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska with the skills and resources to provide compassionate, professional responses to our community needs. We seek dedicated volunteers who, like our staff members, have a heart for excellence and significant service. Your contribution is unique, therefore we work to insure that you receive the necessary materials, training, support, and recognition needed to complete your personal goals as well as the organization’s work. LFS seeks to create an inclusive, accessible work environment that matches every volunteers talents and passions with meaningful service assignments.

Qualifications: Some placements do require special skills or certification, but most positions only ask volunteers to be open to learning new skills and building on their unique talents. All volunteers are required to complete an application, proper background checks and provide personal references. Subsequent training may be provided.

Time Commitment: You get to decide your service commitment. We offer flexible hours and volunteer sites along major transportation routes to make volunteering with LFS convenient.

Age restrictions: Children age 15 and under will need to be accompanied by a parent. Youth volunteers between the ages 16 to 18 will need a signed permission slip to volunteer.
