Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska's Healthy Families Walk Is This Sunday at Alegent Health Lakeside

Omaha, NE -- Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) invites you to bring your family and join the fun at the Healthy Families Walk this Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Alegent Health Lakeside Wellness Center, 16940 Lakeside Hills Plaza in Omaha from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. A 2.2- mile walk, children activities, music, and health and wellness information will be the basis of a walk that aims to raise $85,000 for LFS programs serving families.

A crowd of around 500 is anticipated. Over 200 have already pre-registered at www.lfsneb.org or by calling (402) 591-5063. The walk and activities are FREE, however, walkers raising $75 or more in pledges earn a Healthy Families Walk t-shirt. Just for participating, all walkers will receive gift bags and frozen treats at the finish line.

Walkers of all fitness and activity levels are encouraged to participate. Check-in at 1:00 p.m., walk at 1:30 p.m. Call 591-5063 for pre-registration and additional activity information.

Attention Members of the Media:
Check in at the registration table at 1:00 p.m. You’ll be escorted to the VIP Tent. Ask for Kathleen Al-Marhoon. The media is invited to enjoy food & beverages provided by Moe’s Southwest Grill at the tent while interviewing Walk sponsors, chairs and fundraisers.

Photo opportunities:

  • Residents of the Immanuel Village & Terrace Senior Living Community will cheer walkers and pass out orange slices as walkers pass through the senior living facility
  • Many mascots, including Lay’s Chester Cheetah will walk with participants
  • Speak to elderly walkers and children walking with their parents
  • Water stop areas include activities for kids: bubble making, temporary tattoos, colorful smiley face balloons
  • One water stop caters to dog walkers and offers water and dog bones
  • Cheerleaders cheer walkers at the finish line
  • Kids will get their faces painted by clowns and jump in inflatable moon walks
