Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska Honors Community Leaders
September 8, 2010 (Omaha, Nebraska) – Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) held its annual “Faith in Action®” awards dinner Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Embassy Suites LaVista. The event recognizes those community leaders whose actions demonstrate their commitment to faith-based values and principles.
The 2010 honorees:
Howard and Rhonda Hawks - recognized for generously donating their time, treasure and talent to advance behavioral health and human care for children, individuals, families and the community. The Hawks received the 2010 Douglas E. Parrott Faith in Action® Award.
Omaha Yahoo! Employee Foundation – recognized for their service and support of refugee families in our community. The Yahoo! employees received the 2010 Community Partner of the Year Award.
Scott Anderson – recognized for his leadership and commitment to military personnel and their loved ones. He founded At Ease USA, the primary sponsor and fundraising board for LFS’ At Ease® program, which provides trauma treatment and therapeutic support for active military, veterans and their loved ones. Scott received the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award.
Jack Swanda served as emcee for the event, which included dinner and a program of award presentations, honoree videos and acceptance remarks; plus, a message from President and CEO Ruth Henrichs.
