Community Leaders
Lutheran Family Services
of Nebraska (LFS) held its annual “Faith in Action®” awards
dinner Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Embassy Suites LaVista. The
event recognized community leaders whose actions demonstrate their commitment
to faith-based values and humble service.
The 2011 honorees:
Dr. Tom and Nancy Osborne -
recognized for setting a lifetime standard of humble servant leadership
and for their tremendous commitment of time, talent and treasure in the
lives of young people in Nebraska, and beyond. The Osbornes received
the 2011 Douglas E. Parrott Faith in Action® Award.

Urban League of Nebraska – recognized for outstanding leadership
in building community partnerships that benefit the children and young
families of North Omaha. The Urban League of Nebraska was honored with
the 2011 Community Partner of the Year award. LFS opened its third Center
for Healthy Families inside the Urban League building at 30th and Lake,
Omaha in November, 2010. LFS also operates Centers in Fremont and Council
Bluffs.

The Tewes Family – recognized
for welcoming the Paw Saw Say family into their hearts, their homes,
and their community. The Tewes Family received the 2011 Volunteer of
the Year Award for their work with refugee families.

Matt Davison served as emcee for the event, which included dinner and
a program of award presentations, honoree videos and acceptance remarks;
plus, a message from President and CEO Ruth Henrichs.
Lutheran Family Services is a statewide, community-based
organization which impacts over 35,000 individuals annually, from 31 offices
in 18 cities in the areas of behavioral health, children services and community
