October 28, 2013 (North Platte, Nebraska) — The public is invited to a Veterans Day Open House and Ribbon-Cutting at the North Platte office of Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS). The event commemorates the addition of At Ease® to LFS services in North Platte. At Ease® provides confidential trauma treatment, therapeutic therapy and peer support for veterans, active military and their loved ones.
The Open House at 120 E. 12th Street is from 2:00-3:30, with the Ribbon-Cutting at 3:00.

Those currently scheduled to participate include:

  • Navy Veteran and Chairman of Nebraska Soldiers Foundation, Shane Osborn

  • President/CEO North Platte Chamber/Development Corporation and LFS Board Member, Dan Mauk

At Ease® services are provided on a sliding scale at LFS’ Clifford L. Johnson Center for Healthy Families® at 120 E. 12th Street. No one is turned away based on inability to pay. The public is invited to visit prior to the Veterans Day parade, not only to see the office and learn about all LFS services in North Platte, but to meet the North Platte LFS staff, including At Ease® staff, Jeanie Shimmin and Kay Connery.

At Ease® first opened in Bellevue near Offutt Air Force Base in 2009 and has since expanded into Grand Island, Lincoln and now North Platte. The program complements existing services offered by military and veterans’ organizations, with a focus on eliminating barriers to treatment for those suffering from the effects of multiple deployments. Those interested in learning more about the program or peer support groups should call (308) 532-0587.

At Ease USA is the fundraising organization founded by Omaha’s Scott Anderson, and is the
primary funder for LFS’ At Ease® program.

Paul Greenwell (MSW, LCSW) serves as the LFS At Ease® Program Supervisor and may be
