LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 13, 2016) – Over 200 guests attended Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska’s (LFS) annual Faith in  Action® dinner on Thursday, September 8th at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln. Faith in  Action® is an annual event which honors extraordinary individuals and organizations who put their faith into action by supporting the mission of LFS. The evening celebrated an expanded human care footprint in Lincoln, including the Health 360 Integrated Care Clinic with a special focus on “Growing Health and Hope for All People.” Four awards were given to the following Lincoln community leaders who were honored for their selfless service and contributions to human care:

  • TMCO Inc. and Hiroko & Roland Temme Family received the 2016 Douglas E. Parrott Faith in Action® award for extraordinary corporate leadership and faith-filled generosity of time, talent and treasure advancing a globally rich Lincoln community.
  • Community Health Endowment of Lincoln (CHE) received the Community Partner of the Year award for outstanding vision and leadership to make Lincoln the “healthiest community in the nation.”
  • Peter W. Zandbergen received Volunteer of the Year award for galvanizing community resources to strengthen non-profit missions in Nebraska.
  • Vanja Pejanovic received the LFS Lifetime Achievement award for 15 years of passionate service dedicated to welcoming and supporting refugees.

The inspirational evening included videos for each honoree that told their story through personal testimony and through their friends, family and colleagues. “In every decade of our 124 year history, LFS has found itself being called to courageous service, grounded in our mission to serve ALL God’s people. With integrity, moral courage and sometimes just plain grit… we have stepped to the plate to do  what is right….the challenging work of serving the least of these….the abandoned, the voiceless, the jailed and the forgotten. We don’t do this work alone. We do it arm-in-arm with our extraordinary award recipients who have demonstrated for years that they put their faith into action, “ said Ruth Henrichs, LFS President & CEO.
