Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska (LFS) is pleased to welcome a new member to its volunteer statewide board of directors, representing central Nebraska.

Teresa Anderson is Director of the Central District Health Department which represents 78,000 people in central Nebraska, including these counties and cities: Hall County-Grand Island, Hamilton County-Aurora and Merrick County-Central City.

Anderson is a public health clinical nurse specialist, certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Council. She earned a nursing diploma from Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hastings, a Bachelor’s degree from Creighton University School of Nursing, and her Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

 She is an adjunct faculty member at Doane University’s Grand Island campus. Ms. Anderson serves as President of the Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors, as well as numerous committees involving state and local Public Health liaisons.

“We are delighted to have Teresa Anderson represent the people and community needs of central Nebraska on the LFS Board” said Ruth Henrichs, president and CEO of the organization. “Teresa’s health care knowledge will be an important voice as LFS continues to focus on integrated care, veterans’ services and trauma informed care.”

Anderson led efforts to open the Heartland Health Center in Hall County, Nebraska in 2014, a federal health center funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). She also serves in a leadership role with the Hall County Community Collaborative, which operates on the principles of the Stanford Model of Collective Impact.

Lutheran Family Services is proud to partner with Heartland United Way, and provides the following services in the Grand Island area:

  • Behavioral Health: LFS “At Ease” – services for active military members, veterans and their loved ones
  • Children Services: Adoption and Pregnancy counseling
  • Community Services: Immigration legal services
